There Is a Reason for Lying Down in Boxer Shorts... Yoon's Camp Preparing Legal Action

"Possible Autonomic Nervous System Damage Due to Diabetes"

Former President Yoon Suk-yeol's camp is reportedly preparing legal action against Minister of Justice Chung Sungho, accusing him of disseminating false information.

On August 2, SBS reported this, citing a source from Yoon's camp. The source stated, "The detention cell was so hot due to poor ventilation that it could have caused issues with body temperature regulation," and added, "Because of possible autonomic nervous system damage caused by diabetes, he would occasionally remove his prison uniform even before, and the detention center had been understanding of this situation."

Previously, on August 1, during a session of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, Minister Chung explained the process of executing the arrest warrant for former President Yoon by the Kim Keonhee special prosecutor's team. He stated, "He was wearing a short-sleeved top and bottom as normal, but when the special prosecutor's team attempted to execute the arrest warrant, he took off his prison uniform, and as soon as the team left, he put it back on."

However, Yoon's camp asserted, "The detention cell was so hot due to poor ventilation that it could have caused issues with body temperature regulation," and reiterated, "Because of possible autonomic nervous system damage caused by diabetes, he would occasionally remove his prison uniform even before, and the detention center had been understanding of this situation."

In particular, Yoon's camp claimed, "The special prosecutor's team actually entered the inmate's living area while he was not wearing his prison uniform, attempted to forcibly move him, and even took photos with a camera."

"A Clear Violation of Human Rights"

Yoon's camp argued that being in underwear was simply to regulate body temperature, and that Minister Chung failed to properly ascertain the facts before disseminating false information.

Yoon's camp also protested, stating, "We requested that the special prosecutor consult with the defense attorney, who was waiting, but this was ignored on the grounds that the appointment form had not been submitted," and added, "This can only be regarded as a clear violation of human rights disguised as adherence to due process."

Meanwhile, the special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki, which is investigating allegations related to Kim Keonhee, reportedly attempted to execute an arrest warrant for former President Yoon at Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, on August 1, but failed. Notably, former President Yoon is said to have refused arrest by lying on the floor of his solitary cell, wearing only a sleeveless top and boxer shorts, without his prison uniform.

The special prosecutor's team failed to execute the arrest warrant after two hours and left. In a briefing immediately afterward, the team explained, "The suspect was lying on the floor without his prison uniform and strongly refused to be arrested."
