Strong rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunder and lightning is forecast for Gwangju and South Jeolla Province on August 3. Some areas may experience heavy downpours of more than 80mm per hour, so caution is advised.

According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration, the rain that began on the west coast of South Jeolla Province that day is expected to expand to most areas of Gwangju and South Jeolla Province during the morning. The expected rainfall is between 80 and 150mm until the morning of August 5, with some areas such as the southern coast of South Jeolla Province and around Jirisan Mountain expected to receive more than 250mm.

In particular, between the afternoon of August 3 and the morning of August 4, strong rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunder and lightning is forecast, with rainfall rates of 30 to 50mm per hour. There is also a possibility of torrential rain of 50 to 80mm per hour in the southern coastal areas and around Jirisan Mountain.

The highest daytime temperatures on August 3 are expected to range from 29 to 31 degrees Celsius. As the rain falls, the heat wave advisories previously issued for the region are expected to be gradually lifted or eased in some areas.

An official from the Meteorological Administration stated, "Heavy rain in a short period of time can cause river water levels to rise suddenly," and advised, "Please exercise special caution when using riversides or underpasses."
