"No Need to Travel Far for a Water Park: Seongbuk District Hosts Culture Vacation and Water Play Festival Until the 5th"

Seongbuk District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Seungro) is holding the 9th Seongbuk Culture Vacation·Seongbuk Water Play Festival from August 1 to August 5 at the Ui Stream Multipurpose Plaza and the empty lot in front of Apartment Complex 7 in Gireum 1-dong. To celebrate the summer vacation, the district has transformed local idle spaces into large-scale water play areas, offering residents a special vacation experience that is safe and close to home.

This summer, several new attractions are being introduced for the first time, including an air dome pool (a pool with an air dome installed for shaded water play), a waterfall water bucket (a waterfall pouring down from above), a mist tunnel fountain (a fountain tunnel to cool off), a shaded mom-baby pool (a pool exclusively for infants and toddlers), and a spinning sled pool (a pool with tubes attached to a rotating axis). These features are providing visitors with a unique and enjoyable experience. During the first session, which ran for one week until July 29, there were already about 7,000 visitors. With the ongoing second and third sessions, this year’s total number of visitors is expected to far exceed the usual 10,000 annual attendees.

Since local idle spaces have been turned into a water park, there has been a noticeable increase in family visitors. One visitor who came with their children shared, "It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy water play for free at such a nearby location without having to drive far."

Lee Seungro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, stated, "Seongbuk Culture Vacation is Seongbuk District’s signature water play festival, designed to give residents an enjoyable summer holiday during the hot season." He added, "We will do our utmost to manage water quality and on-site safety so that everyone can enjoy the summer festival with peace of mind."

As an outdoor water play festival, Seongbuk Culture Vacation’s opening status and operating hours may change depending on weather conditions. Real-time updates are provided through the Seongbuk Cultural Foundation’s KakaoTalk channel.
