An 8.1% Increase Compared to the Same Period Last Year

According to Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province on August 2, the cumulative number of vacationers reached 4,580,106, an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period last year.
The number of visitors to the 83 beaches in the province was counted at 683,631 on this day. By city and county, Goseong County had the highest number with 240,850 visitors, followed by Gangneung City with 240,828, Samcheok City with 63,400, Donghae City with 55,397, Yangyang County with 43,864, and Sokcho City with 39,292.
There were also a series of safety incidents. According to the fire authorities, at around 2:21 p.m. on this day, a man in his 60s, identified as A, was rescued after being stranded while playing on a tube at the riverside of Mogok Bambal Recreation Area in Seomyeon, Hongcheon. Earlier, at around 12:09 p.m., a man in his 80s, also identified as A, collapsed while resting near the central plaza of Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung and regained consciousness after receiving emergency treatment.
