KMA and KHA Hold Meeting to Discuss Key Medical Issues

Joint Response to Medical Issues through Regularized Communication

The Korean Medical Association (KMA) and the Korean Hospital Association (KHA) announced on August 1 that they held a meeting to discuss current medical issues.

The KMA and KHA exchanged a wide range of opinions on July 31 at the KMA headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, addressing key medical issues such as improving the training environment for residents and strengthening administrative sanctions against unlicensed medical practices. They also agreed to regularize communication in order to seek joint response measures.

This meeting between the KMA and KHA was the second to be held since the inauguration of the 43rd KMA executive board. It is reported that both sides reaffirmed the necessity of communication and reached a consensus to cooperate on medical issues in the future to help establish a sound medical ecosystem.

Kim Taekwoo, president of the KMA, stated, "We will make efforts to cooperate on medical issues, including solutions to the current medical crisis such as improving the training environment and strengthening administrative sanctions against medical professionals."

Lee Sungkyu, president of the KHA, also remarked, "It is necessary to regularize communication to share awareness of medical issues, and we will work together to create mutually beneficial solutions through this process."

Attending the meeting from the KMA were President Kim Taekwoo, Executive Vice President Park Myungha, Secretary General Seoshincho, Public Relations Director and Spokesperson Kim Sungkeun, Planning Director Lee Chulhee, and Policy Director Kim Chungki. From the KHA, President Lee Sungkyu was joined by Vice President Kim Jinho, Second Policy Committee Chair Park Jinsik, First Insurance Committee Chair Yoo Insang, and Second Insurance Committee Chair Kim Hansoo.
