In Geochang County, Gyeongsangnam-do, it has been reported that a resident anonymously donated daily necessities purchased with a livelihood support coupon, drawing public attention.
According to Yonhap News on August 1, citing Geochang County, a resident anonymously stocked daily necessities in a community refrigerator installed at the Jusang-myeon Administrative Welfare Center on July 31. It was reported that this resident used the livelihood support coupon to purchase instant rice, canned food, ramen, and soy milk.
The community refrigerator is a sharing system that allows local residents or stores to freely donate surplus or unused food items, which those in need can take for free. It was created to reduce food waste through sharing, support the dietary needs of marginalized neighbors, and promote a sense of community.
On the same day, it was also reported that a citizen in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, used a government-issued livelihood recovery coupon to deliver 100 cups of coffee to Cheonan Seobuk Fire Station. Kim Youngjin, a man in his 30s, spent the entire 180,000 won value of his coupon on coffee. He expressed his gratitude to the firefighters, stating, "I once received help from the fire station in the past, and during fire drills at my workplace, I was able to witness firsthand the hard work of the firefighters."
