Korean Air announced on August 1 that it has carried out a social contribution activity in which employees, together with those from Asiana Airlines, produced and donated audiobooks using their own voices.
On July 30, Korean Air held the 'KE-OZ STUDIO' voice donation event at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, with employees from both airlines directly participating. KE-OZ STUDIO is an initiative where audiobooks and fairy tale books, featuring recorded readings by employees, are donated to reading-marginalized groups such as visually impaired children, children from multicultural families, and grandchildren raised by grandparents.
For this social contribution activity, Korean Air accepted advance applications from employees. Through this process, 20 employees from both airlines were selected, prioritizing those with experience as announcers, reporters, or with extensive in-flight announcement experience. The designated books included a total of eight volumes, divided into travel-themed and general fairy tales.
On the day of the event, participants received professional voice actor training in advance and then recorded their readings by taking on different roles and performing the stories. The recorded audio, along with the eight books, will be compiled into 50 sets of audiobooks stored in reading aid devices, allowing users to listen as they turn the pages. These sets are scheduled to be delivered to local schools for the visually impaired by the end of this month.
A Korean Air representative stated, "This donation is a meaningful activity where employees from both airlines directly practice the value of sharing through their voices and inspire dreams and hope in children who have limited access to books. Korean Air will continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and promote warm-hearted sharing within the local community."
