On July 31, Pyeongtaek City held a kick-off briefing for the 'Pyeongtaek EVERYONE Festival' in the main situation room at City Hall, sharing the festival's direction and detailed plans.
Approximately 80 people attended the briefing, including city council members, relevant departments, the festival supervisory team, service providers, and festival advisory committee members. They exchanged opinions on the event composition, key schedules, and operational direction.
This festival is being held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the administrative merger of Pyeongtaek City, Songtan City, and Pyeongtaek County, which took place in 1995.
The festival's name was decided by gathering the opinions of citizens. In the prior naming vote conducted by the city, 6,427 citizens participated. The city reflected the evaluation of the festival advisory committee and finally selected "My Pyeongtaek, One Pyeongtaek. Pyeongtaek EVERYONE Festival" as the official name. The 'EVERYONE' in the festival name signifies that all citizens of Pyeongtaek come together as one to enjoy the event, while 'One' embodies the meaning of one Pyeongtaek, a festival of togetherness, and the best or the finest.
The festival will begin with an eve event on October 24, followed by the main event over two days from October 25 to 26.
During the festival, the city plans to offer a variety of citizen participation programs such as a citizens' parade, a citizens' choir, and a torch relay. There will also be cultural and artistic performances for all generations, 4th industrial revolution experience and exhibition content, carbon neutrality experience programs, and a direct market for agricultural products.
Jung Jangsun, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, stated, "This festival will be a stage of unity and participation where citizens are the protagonists," and added, "We will reflect citizens' voices throughout the entire preparation process to make this a successful festival."
