Nighttime Experiences, Lectures, and Performances
"Science Festival for Summer Escape"
The National Busan Science Museum (Director Song Samjong) is unveiling a variety of science experience programs, including events and performances, to celebrate the summer vacation.
On August 1, the museum announced that it will be focusing on special summer programs for families, children, and adults throughout August. The offerings will stimulate all five senses, ranging from outdoor events to tasting and manufacturing experiences, as well as magic performances.
The "Science Night Kitchen" will be held at Kim Jinjae Hall on August 8 and 9, starting at 6:20 p.m. The event, centered on the science of food, will feature activities such as guessing products by ramen noodles, comparing packet and cup ramen, a Q&A session with a Nongshim researcher, and a food magic show. This event is connected to the special exhibition "Science Kitchen."
The nighttime science culture event for adults, "Science Han Jan," will take place on August 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Hall. Unique science culture experiences will include cheese and edible insect tastings that showcase fermentation science, soju and beer tasting, and a cocktail-making workshop. There will also be classes focused on wine and Makgeolli.
The outdoor event for children, "Science and Magic Kids Night Playground," will be held from August 14 to 16 at the outdoor plaza in front of the planetarium. Co-hosted by Busan City and Busan Tourism Organization, this event is designed as an outdoor festival combining science craft activities and magic performances.
Special lectures and performances will also be held. On August 9, Park Jinyoung, a researcher at the Institute for Basic Science at Seoul National University, will give a lecture titled "The Story of Mass Extinctions: Where Did the Dinosaurs and Trilobites Go?" in the first-floor conference room. At the same location, on August 16 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the "Science Magic Show with Dr. Gunbbang" will take place.
In addition, the "Kkum Narae Maker Playground" will offer a water rocket-making experience, and various maker programs can be enjoyed through the "Monthly Maker Workshop." On August 15, Liberation Day, the permanent exhibition hall and the Children's Science Museum will be open to the public free of charge.
Song Samjong, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, stated, "I hope everyone creates cool memories with science during this hot summer vacation," adding, "We will continue to present a diverse range of new science culture content every season."
