[Market Focus] Daehan Shipbuilding Soars on First Day of KOSPI Listing

Daehan Shipbuilding, a mid-to-large-sized shipbuilder, is surging in early trading on its first day listed on the KOSPI.


As of 9:33 a.m. on August 1, Daehan Shipbuilding's stock price was up 73.40% from its offering price of 50,000 won, trading at 86,700 won. The stock opened at 89,100 won and at one point soared to 97,000 won.


Founded in 1987, Daehan Shipbuilding has been designing and building medium-sized (Aframax) and semi-large (Suezmax) vessels since 2013. The company has constructed various types of ships, including Suezmax and Aframax tankers, shuttle tankers, and container ships.


Previously, 2,106 institutional investors participated in the demand forecasting process for domestic and international institutions, resulting in a competition ratio of 275.7 to 1. The offering price was set at the upper end of the desired price range (42,000 to 50,000 won), at 50,000 won. In the subscription for general investors, the competition ratio reached 238.1 to 1, with approximately 17.8608 trillion won collected as deposit money.
