On July 31, international relief and development NGO Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry International (President Choi Changnam) announced that it held an inauguration ceremony for the 'Hope Policy TFT (Task Force Team)' at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, with the aim of establishing a foundation for the practical policy participation of self-reliant young adults. At the event, the organization also signed a business agreement with New Ways, a corporation.
The 'Hope Policy TFT' is a policy participation program based on the involvement of self-reliant young adults, supporting them to become active agents in policy formation rather than remaining as mere beneficiaries of policies. The team is composed mainly of individuals interested in systems and policies related to self-reliant young adults, as well as experts in the field.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Jang Soyoung, Head of Domestic Operations at Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry International, as well as Seoul Yongsan-gu Council member Ham Daegun, Seoul Gangdong-gu Council member Won Changhee, Seoul Dongdaemun-gu Council member Kim Sejong, Seoul Gangseo-gu Council member Kim Soonok, Gwacheon City Council member Park Juri, and New Ways CEO Park Hyemin. Self-reliant young adults Park Kangbin, Shin Seon, Park Jeongjae, and Kim Raeseon also participated. The event included the presentation of appointment letters to TFT members, a presentation by New Ways on the direction for ordinance initiatives, and the signing of the business agreement between the organizations.
On the same day, New Ways, a corporation that supports the training of young politicians and voter participation, signed the agreement. Through this collaboration, the organizations plan to highlight policy blind spots concerning self-reliant young adults and out-of-home youth, as well as children, adolescents, and young adults in crisis. They also aim to actively promote the enactment of local ordinances in cooperation with local councils. Moving forward, they intend to raise awareness among voters about the need for such ordinances and connect them with local councils to achieve tangible improvements in the system.
Jang Soyoung, Head of Domestic Operations at Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry International, stated, "Policy can only bring about change when it reflects voices from the field. The Hope Policy TFT is a new attempt for self-reliant young adults to propose policies and change structures themselves, and it will serve as a foundation for them to grow into confident members of society."
