Next Securities Transitions to Sole CEO System Under Kim Seungyeon

Accelerating New MTS Development and Expansion of Retail Business

Next Securities announced on July 31 that it will transition from a co-CEO system with Kim Seungyeon and Lee Byungjoo to a sole CEO system under Kim Seungyeon.

This decision is a strategic move to accelerate the development of an AI and content-based MTS (Mobile Trading System) and to expand its retail business. CEO Kim Seungyeon, who has led the growth of retail divisions at global platforms such as YouTube and TikTok as well as Toss Securities, is expected to spearhead the launch of Next Securities' MTS and drive retail innovation.

CEO Lee Byungjoo will support the growth of Next Securities at Banker Street Co., Ltd., an institution-only private equity fund operator and the largest shareholder of Next Securities.

Lee Byungjoo is the founder of Banker Street Co., Ltd. After Banker Street acquired management rights of Next Securities at the end of 2019, he was appointed CEO in October 2020. He registered the company as a securities investment broker for professional investors, established a corporate finance (IB) division, and transformed the company from a derivatives brokerage-focused structure into a comprehensive securities firm. He also led the company to profitability for two consecutive years starting in 2023, contributing to improved profitability for Next Securities. In addition, together with CEO Kim Seungyeon, who was appointed co-CEO in October 2024, he successfully attracted investment from Interactive Brokers (IBKR), the largest online securities firm in the United States, marking the first such achievement among domestic securities firms.

CEO Kim Seungyeon stated, "Under the leadership of CEO Lee Byungjoo, Next Securities was able to establish a stable business foundation and successfully settle into the securities brokerage business," and added, "Going forward, we will challenge the market with a new AI and content-driven MTS, and create a springboard for growth through synergies between existing and new businesses."
