Customized Policy to Encourage Youth Marriage and Settlement
to Be Implemented in August
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province will launch the 'Marriage Congratulations Household Goods Support Project for People in Their 20s' starting August 1, in an effort to encourage marriage among young people in their 20s and help them settle down stably.

The city plans to allocate a total budget of 164 million won to provide up to 1 million won per newlywed couple for the purchase of home appliances and furniture.
This project is a practical support measure aimed at easing the initial financial burden for newlywed couples in their 20s who settle in Gumi after marriage. To be eligible, applicants must meet all three criteria: both spouses must be born between 1995 and 2007 as of the marriage registration date; the couple must have completed their marriage registration on or after January 1, 2025; and both must have been registered residents in North Gyeongsang Province for at least six months and currently reside in Gumi as of the application date.
Applications can be submitted within one year of the marriage registration date, either by visiting the local Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Center or online via Government24.
Required documents include the application form, receipts for the purchase of home appliances and furniture, a copy of the resident registration certificate (including address change history) for each spouse, a detailed marriage certificate, and a copy of the bank account.
Since April, Gumi City has also been operating the 'Marriage Encouragement Grant for Young Workers,' which provides up to 1 million won in Gumi Love Gift Certificates to young workers aged 30 and 45 who have completed their marriage registration this year. With this new household goods support, both people in their 20s and those in their 30s and 40s can now receive tailored benefits.
Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi, stated, "Marriage among young people is a key issue that determines the future of our region," adding, "We expect that the household goods support will serve as a practical measure to encourage marriage. We will continue to expand a variety of tailored policies so that young people do not hesitate to marry and have children."
