Youth in Damyang County, Jeollanam-do are attracting attention by carrying out an 'eco-friendly practice campaign,' creating scarecrows from discarded banners and installing them in the fields.

According to the county on July 31, young people gathered at the Damyang Youth Culture Center to participate in an activity making scarecrows using waste banners. This initiative was organized by the Youth Participation Committee of the Dambit Youth Culture Center as part of the 'Eco-Guardians Everyday Ideas Contest.' The youth themselves created scarecrows from discarded banners, presenting new possibilities for the reuse of waste resources.

Notably, the scarecrows carried messages such as "Protect the environment," "Discomfort is temporary, comfort with nature lasts forever," and "Nature is our precious treasure," emphasizing the importance of environmental protection.

One youth who participated in the campaign said, "I felt proud that I could contribute to protecting the environment through this small act of turning discarded banners into meaningful scarecrows."

A county official stated, "It was very meaningful that young people considered environmental issues from their own perspective and put their thoughts into action," adding, "We will continue to seek various ways to protect the environment and promote resource recycling together with local youth."

Meanwhile, in May, the county held the 'Eco-Guardians Everyday Ideas Contest' for local youth, discovering various environmental protection ideas such as 'recycled aquatic plant pots' and 'Kkong Point Jupging.' The 11 selected photos have been on display in the lobby on the first floor of the Dambit Youth Culture Center since June 26.
