Excellence in Patient Safety and Testing System Proven
Gumi Hospital, an affiliate of Soonchunhyang University in North Gyeongsang Province (Director: Min Kyungdae), has received the highest rating, Grade 1, in the first-ever "1st Imaging Test Appropriateness Assessment" conducted by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
This assessment targeted medical institutions nationwide equipped with CT, MRI, and PET devices, and was conducted from July to September 2023. It was introduced to enhance patient safety and improve the quality of imaging tests as their utilization increases.
The evaluation consisted of five assessment indicators and nine monitoring indicators, including: the rate of pre-contrast agent patient assessments, the rate of pre-MRI patient assessments, the implementation of radiation dose reduction programs, and the interpretation rate by nuclear medicine specialists.
Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital recorded a comprehensive score of 98.8 points, far exceeding the overall average of 67.6 points. In particular, the hospital received excellent scores in pre-contrast agent patient assessments and pre-MRI patient assessments, demonstrating the stability and accuracy of its imaging test system.
Min Kyungdae, the hospital director, stated, "Accurate and safe imaging tests are crucial in determining patient diagnosis and treatment direction," adding, "It is meaningful that our hospital’s systematic testing system and the expertise of our medical staff have been recognized through this assessment."
He further added, "We will continue to do our best to establish patient-centered medical services and a trusted healthcare environment."
The results of this assessment are considered evidence that Soonchunhyang University Gumi Hospital is playing a leading role in patient safety and quality improvement of imaging tests as a representative regional medical institution.
