Founded in 1978, Axcelis Technologies is a company specializing in power semiconductors and advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes, possessing ion implantation equipment technology, which is a core technology among the eight major semiconductor processes. Last year, the company was selected as one of Fortune's "100 Fastest-Growing Companies."

The AAOC (Axcelis Asia Operations Center), established by Axcelis in Pyeongtaek in 2021, supplies approximately 50% of the global ion implanter market. The event was held to commemorate the shipment of 100 ion implanters by Axcelis Korea, valued at approximately 1.3 trillion won.

At the event, Mayor Jung discussed future investment plans with Robert Mahoney, Executive Vice President of Global Operations at Axcelis Technologies, and Park Younggeun, CEO of Axcelis Korea.

Mayor Jung stated, "We will work closely with Axcelis Korea and provide support to ensure continued growth." He added, "We will continue to provide administrative support to create a favorable environment for foreign investment and to help partner companies grow."

Meanwhile, over the past four years, Axcelis Korea has increased the number of domestic partner companies from 8 to 35, creating approximately 250 direct and indirect jobs and achieving domestic procurement worth about 170 billion won.
