Expansion of Supply for Patented Microorganisms such as 'NS-nema07' in Nonsan City
...Expected to Reduce Farming Management Costs by 3 Billion Won
Nonsan City in South Chungcheong Province announced on July 31 that it will expand the supply of beneficial agricultural microorganisms from local farmers to include agricultural and livestock producers from outside the region who own farmland within the area.
This measure aims to respond to the increasing annual demand for microorganisms and to actively reflect the needs of the agricultural sector.
Beneficial microorganisms are considered key resources for the realization of eco-friendly agriculture. They are recognized for improving soil fertility, promoting crop growth, preventing pests and diseases, and reducing livestock odors.
In particular, 'NS-nema07' and 'NS05', which were independently developed and patented by Nonsan City, help control root-knot nematodes and anthracnose without concerns about residual pesticides, promote crop growth, and contribute to increasing farm income.
The Microorganism Cultivation Laboratory at the Agricultural Technology Center supplies approximately 1,200 tons of microorganisms annually to over 16,000 farmers. With this expansion, it is expected that farming management costs will be reduced by approximately 3 billion won per year, and productivity could increase by up to 20%.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, "We have improved the supply conditions through the amendment of the ordinance," and added, "We plan to strengthen the administrative foundation so that more farmers can receive stable benefits."
