Free Operation Until August 17
According to the district, the newly opened water playgrounds will be operated free of charge at two locations?Sangmu Citizens Park and Ssanghak Children’s Park?until August 17. The operating hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with an earlier opening at 10:00 a.m. on weekends. The facilities will be closed on Mondays for inspections and maintenance, including cleaning of purification tanks.
The district plans to ensure a safe environment at the water playgrounds by changing the water daily, cleaning the water tanks, maintaining the surrounding environment, and cleaning the retention tanks at least once a week. In addition, four safety personnel who have completed emergency response training will be stationed at all times to help prevent accidents.
During the same period, the ground fountain in Uncheon Lake will also operate to help residents cool off from the heat. The ground fountain at the newly constructed Yeomju Children’s Park is scheduled to open in early August after construction is completed.
Each neighborhood will also host summer water play events for children. The Hwajeong 4-dong Administrative Welfare Center will run “Hwasa(4) Water Play Season 2” at Matgoeul Children’s Park until August 1. This event will offer a variety of programs, including a water slide, water balloon toss, DJ performances, and bubble shows, providing a joyful cultural playground for children.
Additionally, the following events are scheduled:
- Geumho 2-dong will hold “Cheombeong Cheombeong Picnic” at Gwangju Middle School on August 1,
- Pungam-dong will host the “2025 Pungam Water Festa” at Modu Moa-gil on August 1?2,
- Yang 3-dong will present “Physical Balsan Water Playground” at Balsan Gateball Field on August 9,
- Dongcheon-dong will organize “Chaekyeoreum Book-cance” at Bitgoeul Elementary School Sports Field on August 9,
- Gwangcheon-dong will open “Gwangcheon Water Zone” near the Administrative Welfare Center on August 16,
- Geumho 1-dong will hold “Sangsaeng Village We-ro Hanmadang Exciting Water Park” at Sangmu Elementary School on August 17,
- Yudeok-dong will operate “Yudeok Kids Small Water Playground” at Yudeok Children’s Park on August 23.
District Mayor Kim Ikang stated, “I hope this water playground will offer a moment of rest and laughter for children and families. Seo-gu District will conduct thorough on-site inspections and hygiene management to ensure children have a safe and enjoyable summer, and we will continue to expand urban summer playgrounds where families can have fun together.”
