Enjoy a Healthy Summer with Haeshintang
Ipyang-myeon Community Social Security Council Shares Nutritious Meals with 50 Vulnerable Households
The Ipyang-myeon Community Social Security Council in Yeongyang-gun, North Gyeongsang Province (co-chaired by Park Jongsoo and Kang Younggil) held the "Healthy Summer Haeshintang Sharing" event on July 31 at the office of the Ipyang-myeon Aehyang Youth Association, providing support to 50 vulnerable households in the area.
This event, organized by the Ipyang-myeon Community Social Security Council, aimed to support the vulnerable in staying healthy during the summer and to help them recover their strength from the exhausting heat.
On this day, the council members purchased chickens using funds from the Gyeongbuk Community Chest of Korea's Together for Happiness Fund joint fundraising project. The members also pooled their resources to buy octopus and abalone, personally preparing and cooking the chicken and seafood to make Haeshintang, a highly nutritious summer dish. They also prepared fresh kimchi and muscle patches, visiting each household to deliver the food and check on their health and well-being, making it a meaningful occasion.
Kim (female, 92 years old), one of the recipients, expressed her gratitude, saying, "This summer has been especially long and hot, so I am truly thankful for receiving this nutritious Haeshintang delivered right to my home."
Park Jongsoo, the public chairperson, stated, "I hope that seniors and vulnerable groups can stay healthy and safe this summer by enjoying Haeshintang. I also want to express my gratitude to the council members who worked hard from early morning to prepare this meal."
