At the Democratic Party's policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 31st, acting leader Kim said, "Following the achievements of the June Assembly, such as the amendment of the Commercial Act, the supplementary budget for people's livelihood, and the formation of the Cabinet, we will keep our promise in the July Assembly as well." He added, "The Democratic Party will accelerate livelihood and reform legislation that was halted due to the Yoon Sukyeol administration's excessive use of vetoes, starting from the launch of the Lee Jaemyung administration."
Acting leader Kim said, "We have tried to persuade the People Power Party for bipartisan agreement, but as they have been unreasonably obstructive, we have responded actively." He emphasized, "As a result, it appears that the livelihood and reform bills will be brought to the plenary session by today at the latest." He asserted, "We will pass the three broadcasting normalization bills, the Grain Management Act, the Agricultural and Fishery Products Distribution and Price Stabilization Act, the second amendment to the Commercial Act, and the Yellow Envelope Act (Articles 2 and 3 of the Trade Union Act) at the plenary sessions on August 4 and 5."
Kim also remarked, "I hear that the People Power Party is considering a filibuster. If they want to do it, let them," and warned, "However, I caution that politics which holds legitimate legislation and people's livelihoods hostage cannot escape the judgment of the people." He reiterated, "We will achieve results in the July Assembly and complete livelihood reform legislation in the August Assembly."
Meanwhile, regarding growing concerns in the business community about side effects from the passage of the Commercial Act amendment, he said, "We will promptly pursue regulatory rationalization, including measures to prevent the abuse of breach of trust charges," and added, "We will work closely with the government's economic criminal penalty rationalization task force to prepare regulatory rationalization measures that support the creative activities of companies, including preventing the abuse of breach of trust charges."
