'Rest Space' to Be Created at Youth Support Center... 16 Programs to Run Through December
City: "Supporting Gimpo Youth to Grow into Talented Individuals with Both Capabilities and Emotional Energy"
Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province, which has been leading the paradigm of local government youth support through effective changes such as offering programs, operating hours, and accessibility that meet the needs of young people, is now aiming to foster the emotional growth of youth as well.

According to Gimpo City on July 31, the city was finally selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Youth Growth Project' public offering this year, securing a total of 57.5 million won in funding, including national subsidies. From the second half of this year, the city plans to expand its support to include emotional care for youth.
The main goal is to create a 'rest space' for young people at the Gimpo City Youth Support Center and to newly introduce programs closely related to daily life, such as culture and communication, independent living, and financial management. Through this program, the aim is to help Gimpo's youth grow into talented individuals equipped with both capabilities and emotional energy.
The center is expected to be transformed into a complex space where young people can relax and prepare for employment or entrepreneurship, with local artists' artworks and best-selling and steady-selling books on display. In addition, a total of 16 programs will be operated sequentially from August to December. Currently, applications are being accepted for five programs scheduled for August, including 'Youth Financial Management,' and registration is available through the Gimpo City Lifelong Learning Integrated Platform.
In addition, the city plans to sequentially operate the following programs: ▲Emotional Support: Local Exploration (Cultural Tours), Career Growth Classes (Baking and Pastry), Special Lectures for Youth Communication; ▲Independent Living: Housing Exploration, Youth Table (One-Meal Class); ▲Employment and Job Skills: OA Practical Training, AI Music Composition, GPT-based Employment Training (Resume and Cover Letter), Labor Law for New Employees, Side Jobs & N-Job Seekers, NFT and Blockchain Basics.
A Gimpo City official stated, "The number of young people who are neither working nor seeking employment has exceeded 500,000, and preventing youth lethargy has become another challenge of our time. Through this project, Gimpo City will expand rest spaces for youth and operate programs that encompass emotional, job-related, and independent living support. We will actively support young people with effective policies so that they can develop their capabilities and drive even in a challenging employment environment."
Meanwhile, starting this year, Gimpo City has converted the Gimpo City Youth Support Center to direct management, receiving positive responses from a diverse range of young people through effective educational programs. The city has significantly expanded program operation hours from weekday daytime to evenings and weekends, shifted the focus from short-term cultural and leisure programs under previous private consignment to employment and entrepreneurship competency-building and certification programs, and from August, will pilot base-type programs in three regions to make them more accessible for youth. These demand-centered changes are driving further growth.
