KORAIL Gwangju Headquarters announced on July 31 that it will launch the "Cool Water Wednesday" campaign every Wednesday during the summer to address the high temperature issues in the overpass corridor at Gwangju Songjeong Station and to proactively respond to the summer heatwaves.
The "Cool Wednesday" campaign aims to improve the heat island phenomenon in the overpass corridor at Gwangju Songjeong Station, which has been a recurring issue every summer due to the station's architectural structure. Since July 11, ceiling-type exhaust fans and air coolers have been newly installed and are now in operation. As part of this campaign, cold ice water is distributed to customers, and staff engage with them to discuss their satisfaction with Gwangju Songjeong Station and gather suggestions for improvement.
A representative from the Gwangju Headquarters stated, "This campaign is not just about handing out ice water; we hope it becomes a venue for active communication to resolve customer inconveniences and to inform them of our genuine efforts to improve the environment." The representative added, "We will continue to listen to our customers and strive to provide safer and more comfortable railway services."
