Gyeonggi Province to Support 13,000 Young Workers with Annual 1.2 Million Won Youth Welfare Points

Gyeonggi Province will provide approximately 13,000 young workers with 'Youth Welfare Points' worth 1.2 million won.

On July 31, Gyeonggi Province announced that it would recruit 13,000 participants for the second round of the 'Youth Welfare Points' support program from August 1 to August 12. This initiative aims to improve the welfare of young workers and address the job mismatch in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Youth Welfare Points program provides annual welfare points worth 1.2 million won to young people in Gyeonggi who, as of the recruitment date, have worked for at least six months and at least 36 hours per week at SMEs, small business owners, or nonprofit organizations located in Gyeonggi Province.

Applicants must be between 19 and 39 years old and earn a monthly salary of 3.59 million won or less. For those who have completed mandatory military service, the age limit is extended by up to three years for the duration of their service.

To benefit more young people, Gyeonggi Province increased the recruitment quota from the original 20,000 to 23,000. In the first round in June, 10,000 participants were selected, and the remaining 13,000 will be recruited in the second round in August.

Applications can be submitted online through the 'Youth Worker Support Program' website (youth.jobaba.net). Required documents include the application form, employment verification, and business registration certificate. Resident registration transcript, records of enrollment in the four major insurances, and health insurance payment confirmation can be automatically submitted with the applicant's consent through the public MyData service.

Gyeonggi Province will select recipients in order of lowest monthly salary (health insurance premium). In the event of a tie, factors such as length of employment and duration of residence in Gyeonggi Province will be considered. The final results will be announced on the website on September 11.

Participants in the Youth Welfare Points program can also participate in national asset-building support programs such as the Youth Tomorrow Savings Account and the Youth Worker Tomorrow Filling Deduction. However, they cannot participate in Gyeonggi Province's 'SME Youth Worker Support Program' or 'Youth Worker Savings Account' at the same time.

Additionally, employees of public enterprises and public institutions are not eligible. The awarded welfare points can be used to purchase a variety of products related to cultural activities, self-development, and health management at the exclusive online mall 'Gyeonggi Youth Welfare Mall.'

Kim Sunhwa, Director of Youth Opportunity Division at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Youth Welfare Points program is designed to improve the welfare of young people working at SMEs and mid-sized companies in the province," and added, "We will continue to provide various forms of support to help young people adapt well to SMEs in the province."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province plans to verify the eligibility of recipients every six months during their participation in the program, checking requirements such as residence, size of workplace, and working hours.
