Winner Takes Both 1st and 2nd Prizes, Totaling 2.16 Billion Won
A man who recently won the first prize in the pension lottery (totaling 2.16 billion won) has drawn attention after sharing that "a Buddhist monk told me that good fortune would come to me soon," as his reaction to winning.
On July 30, Donghaeng Lottery revealed the story of Mr. A, the winner of the 273rd round of the pension lottery, on its website. Mr. A, who also won the second prize, is expected to receive a total prize of 2.16 billion won.
Mr. A, who purchased the lottery ticket at a convenience store in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, stated that he regularly buys Lotto and pension lottery tickets near his home and workplace, holding onto a small hope. Usually, he would buy the pension lottery ticket selected by the store owner, but for this round, he personally chose the ticket from the top of the stack, which resulted in him winning both the first and second prizes.
Mr. A commented, "At the beginning of the year, a Buddhist monk told me that good fortune would come to me in August this year. Now that it has actually happened, I feel truly amazed and grateful. Thinking about my retirement, I am much more satisfied receiving a stable monthly payment like a pension, rather than receiving a large sum all at once."
For the Pension Lottery 720+, the first prize winner receives 7 million won per month for 20 years, and the second prize winner receives 1 million won per month for 10 years, both in the form of annuity payments.
