Kim Hakyoung, a member of the Construction and Transportation Committee of the Goyang Special City Council (representing Songpo-dong, Deogi-dong, and Gajwa-dong), visited the sites of the Gajwa Park and Hanbyeol Children's Park environmental improvement projects on July 30 to inspect the progress of the projects and listen to residents' opinions.

Kim Hakyoung of Goyang City Council Inspects Environmental Improvement Projects at Gajwa Park and Hanbyeol Children's Park Kim Hakyoung, a member of the Construction and Transportation Committee of Goyang Special City Council, visited Gajwa Park and Hanbyeol Children's Park environmental improvement project sites consecutively on the 30th to check the progress of the projects. On this site visit, Ryu Jongcheol, an aide from the office of National Assembly member Kim Younghwan, Go Eunjung, Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council's Economic and Labor Committee, and local residents from Gajwa-dong and Deogi-dong joined as well.

The first stop, Gajwa Park (1098, Gajwa-dong, Ilsanseo-gu), has been plagued by continuous complaints from residents due to ongoing deterioration of its facilities since its establishment over 20 years ago. This environmental improvement project is being fully implemented with a total budget of 1.7 billion KRW, which includes 1.4 billion KRW in special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province and 300 million KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, thanks to the active efforts of Provincial Council member Go Eunjung to secure funding.

The main components of the project include maintenance of aging walkways and facilities within the approximately 50,000 square meter park, creation of an open entrance plaza, and establishment of pedestrian-friendly spaces.

Kim Hakyoung stated, "It is important to create pedestrian-friendly spaces to resolve the inconveniences caused by the aging park and to ensure that everyone can use the park safely and conveniently," and added, "We will work closely with the city to ensure that residents' opinions are reflected as much as possible within the budget."

At Hanbyeol Children's Park (374-12, Deogi-dong area), the next site visited, Kim also reviewed the progress of the project with residents and relevant officials, saying, "I will communicate directly with residents on site and closely check for any inconveniences." He added, "I will do my best to ensure that children, the future generation of Goyang, can use the park comfortably and safely together with their guardians."

Meanwhile, on April 10, Kim Hakyoung received a business report from the department on the Gajwa Park environmental improvement project and requested the following: removal of tree flower beds to expand the plaza; improvement of stone steps that cause walking difficulties for the elderly; improvement of pedestrian environment at the entrance to Songpo Elementary School; improvement of the street rest area next to Gajwa Library; maintenance of aging facilities at the street park near Gajwa Elementary School; and improvement of the existing parking lot located between walkways. A significant portion of these requests has been reflected in the detailed design service.

An official from Goyang City stated that, based on the finalized design plan, the project will be ordered in August and construction will begin in September, so that residents can use the park again as soon as possible.
