Microsoft Becomes Second Company After Nvidia to Surpass $4 Trillion Market Cap

Microsoft, the world's largest software company, announced on July 30 (local time) that it recorded $76.44 billion in revenue and $3.65 in earnings per share for the second quarter (fiscal fourth quarter).

The revenue surpassed the Wall Street consensus estimate of $73.81 billion compiled by market research firm LSEG, and the earnings per share also exceeded the expected $3.37. Compared to the same period last year, revenue increased by 18%, and net income rose by 23% to $27.23 billion.


For the first time, Microsoft disclosed the revenue scale of its Azure business. For the 2025 fiscal year (July 2024 to June 2025), revenue from Azure and other cloud services reached $75 billion, a 34% increase from the previous year. Azure revenue for April to June surged by 39%, exceeding the 34.4% growth projected by market research firm StreetAccount.


The Intelligent Cloud division, which includes Azure Cloud, recorded $29.88 billion in revenue, an increase of about 26%. This figure surpassed the $28.92 billion estimate compiled by StreetAccount.


On this day, Microsoft's stock price closed up 0.13% in regular trading on the New York Stock Exchange, and after the earnings announcement, it soared by about 9% in after-hours trading. As a result, Microsoft became the second company after artificial intelligence (AI) leader Nvidia to surpass a market capitalization of $4 trillion.
