Trump: "Meeting With South Korea This Afternoon... Will Hear Tariff Reduction Proposal"

On July 30 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would meet with the South Korean trade negotiation delegation in the afternoon to discuss tariffs and that he was willing to listen to South Korea's proposal for tariff reductions.

On this day, President Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social, "I am scheduled to meet with the South Korean trade delegation this afternoon." He added, "Currently, a 25% reciprocal tariff is in place, but they are making a proposal to lower the tariffs. I am interested in hearing what that proposal is."

Currently, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yooncheol, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeonggwan, and Trade Negotiation Head Yeo Hangoo are conducting negotiations with the U.S. side in Washington, D.C. While major trading partners such as the European Union (EU), Japan, and the United Kingdom have reached trade agreements with the United States, South Korea must conclude its negotiations by August 1, when the 25% reciprocal tariff suspension ends.

President Trump stated, "We are working very busily at the White House on trade negotiation matters," and added, "I have spoken with leaders of several countries, and they all want to make America 'very happy.'"

He said, "Pakistan and the United States have signed an agreement to jointly develop massive oil reserves," and added, "Currently, we are in the process of selecting an oil company to lead this partnership." He also mentioned, "Someday, they might end up selling oil to India."

Additionally, President Trump said, "Similarly, other countries are also proposing tariff reductions," and emphasized, "All of this will help significantly reduce our trade deficit." He stated, "A full report will be released at the appropriate time," and concluded, "Thank you for your interest in this issue. Make America great again! (MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!)"
