Governor Park Wansu Inspects Construction Sites and Heat Shelters in Changwon to Ensure Heat Illness Prevention

On July 30, Governor Park Wansu of South Gyeongsang Province visited construction sites and heat shelters in the Changwon area to inspect cooling facilities and emphasize the importance of following heat illness prevention guidelines.

Governor Park checked whether workers at the construction site of the self-sufficient complex administrative town in Hoeseong-dong, Masan Hoewon-gu, Changwon, were following heat illness prevention measures such as drinking water, taking breaks, adjusting work hours, providing cooling equipment, and preparing for emergency treatment. He also inspected the condition of the workers' rest area.

He then visited the Jungang Senior Center, a heat shelter in Seokjeon-dong, to check the operation of the shelter and the status of safety management, including the functioning of air conditioning.

He spoke with the elderly residents to see if they were experiencing any difficulties or inconveniences while using the shelter.

According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and South Gyeongsang Province, a total of 215 cases of heat-related illness occurred in the province between May 15 and July 29. This is significantly higher than the 104 cases reported during the same period last year.

South Gyeongsang Province plans to strengthen protection measures for outdoor workers at sites such as construction areas and fields, expand the operation of heat shelters, and continue to promote heatwave response measures so that residents can spend the summer safely and healthily through comprehensive efforts.
