First Light Storyhouse
Miky Lee: "I Believe in the Power of Storytelling"
On July 30, CJ ENM announced the launch of 'First Light Storyhouse.' This is a label that supports the development of film and TV projects by talented Asian creators. It participates as an investor and co-producer at the early stages of development, and later facilitates collaboration with studios, production companies, and streaming platforms.
First Light Storyhouse aims to bring the stories and voices of Asian creators to a global audience. The plan is to showcase the narratives of marginalized individuals through content featuring Asian people, such as the films "Minari" and "Past Lives."
The founding members include Miky Lee, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group, Janet Yang, former President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), and Dominic Ng, CEO of East West Bank, all of whom have experience in the entertainment and finance industries. They will lead the label and set its vision and strategic direction. The operation of the label will be handled by CJ ENM, led by Kyungbum Ko, Head of Global Projects.
Vice Chairwoman Lee stated, "Recently, Asian creators have demonstrated the potential and authenticity of their stories, which has enabled their success." She added, "Through this project, we aim to shine a light on their voices. I believe in the power of storytelling to build bridges between cultures."
