Creating a Customized Rest Area for Residents by Utilizing Idle Urban Spaces
Project Aims for Completion in 2026
Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) and the Seo-gu District Office of Busan (District Mayor Gong Hansu) have joined hands to promote the "Healing Park Development Project" by utilizing idle spaces in Saetdi Sanbok Village.
The two organizations signed a memorandum of understanding on July 29, agreeing to cooperate on improving the physical environment, restoring the local community, and enhancing residents' quality of life by creating a customized healing park within the city.
This project is being pursued to address the lack of residential and leisure spaces in Saetdi Sanbok Village, where access to urban infrastructure is limited due to the area's topography and where the aging population is becoming more severe. The Seo-gu District Office will oversee the overall project, including park design and construction, while Busan Metropolitan Corporation will provide financial support by donating the budget for the park development.
This is the second case of the "BMC 15-Minute Healing Park Development Project" being promoted by Busan Metropolitan Corporation, following the first project, the Hocheon Village Disaster Prevention Park, which has already begun in earnest.
The Seo-gu District Office plans to complete the detailed design in the second half of this year and commence construction, aiming for completion in 2026.
President Shin Changho emphasized, "This project is not simply about reorganizing space, but about providing a public space closely connected to daily life that offers rest and stability for residents," adding, "We will actively reflect residents' opinions to create a model case that will become a source of local pride."
