The Gyeongsan Culture and Tourism Foundation (Chairman: Cho Hyunil, Mayor of Gyeongsan) will implement urgent measures to respond to the ongoing heatwave ahead of the '2025 Gyeongsan Water Festival', which will be held from August 1 to August 3 at the Hyoum Art Hall of Daegu Catholic University.
As a key measure, a 'QR code waiting system' will be introduced for the 90-meter giant water slide, which is expected to attract a large number of visitors.
This system allows visitors to scan a QR code on-site to register for the queue, and when their turn arrives, a boarding notification will be sent to their mobile phones. This enables visitors to avoid waiting in long lines under the heat and instead rest freely in shaded areas before boarding.
Additionally, all water activities will operate in eight sessions (from 10:30 a.m. to 6:10 p.m.), with each session consisting of 40 minutes of operation and 20 minutes of rest. Participation will be limited to 80 people per session for the water slide and 180 people for the pool, in order to minimize the risk of safety accidents and heatstroke due to crowd density.
On-site facilities to respond to the heatwave will include shaded shelters, parasols, medical staff, and the distribution of bottled water.
Furthermore, to prevent safety accidents caused by prolonged sun exposure, visitors are encouraged to prepare personal items such as sunscreen, cooling sleeves, long-sleeved clothing, and hats. Related items will also be available for purchase at the small business win-win market on the day of the festival.
Cho Hyunil, Chairman of the Gyeongsan Culture and Tourism Foundation, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure that citizens can enjoy the festival safely without heat-related accidents, even during the heatwave."
