"Heatwave and Floods: Busan Procurement Service Director Inspects Construction and Flood Recovery Sites for Material Supply Stability"

Director Shin Bongjae Visits Busan Filming Studio and Daekyung PCI

The Busan Regional Public Procurement Service rushed to construction sites to inspect safety management at public works sites and the supply status of materials for flood recovery in preparation for the heatwave and heavy rainfall.

The Busan Public Procurement Service (Director Shin Bongjae) announced on July 30 that it had visited the Busan Filming Studio construction site in Gijang-gun, Busan, as well as Daekyung PCI Co., Ltd., a concrete retaining wall manufacturer in Ulju-gun, Ulsan.

This inspection was carried out as a field-oriented administrative measure to ensure worker safety and the stability of material supply, as the heatwave continued following record-breaking heavy rainfall.

At the Busan Filming Studio construction site, the team focused on checking preventive measures against heat-related illnesses, such as the provision of cold water, ice, and saline, the operation status of cooling equipment, and whether workers were given at least 20-minute breaks every two hours during the heatwave. They also informed workers that if the perceived temperature exceeds 33 degrees Celsius, work can be suspended, and that construction periods can be extended and contract amounts adjusted accordingly.

At Daekyung PCI Co., Ltd., the team checked the quality and safety of concrete retaining wall materials for flood recovery and discussed measures for the prompt supply of these products to areas affected by heavy rainfall.

The Public Procurement Service is currently implementing "Emergency Procurement Guidelines for Supporting Recovery from Damage Caused by Heavy Rainfall and Other Disasters." Through this, procedures for recovery in affected areas and support for companies and demand institutions are being streamlined.

Director Shin Bongjae emphasized, "The lives and safety of workers are our top priority," and added, "We will actively utilize emergency procurement and other measures to prevent accidents caused by the heatwave in advance and to ensure prompt recovery from damage."
