[Market Focus] Kwangdong Pharmaceutical Rises on Selection as Preferred Negotiator for Jeju Samdasoo Sales Rights Worth 400 Billion Won

Kwangdong Pharmaceutical is showing strong performance. This is believed to be influenced by the news that the company has been selected as the preferred negotiator for the consignment sales rights of Jeju Samdasoo, the number one bottled water brand in the domestic market.

As of 1:55 p.m. on July 30, Kwangdong Pharmaceutical was trading at 6,280 won, up 3.29% from the previous day.

According to a media report, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation (Jeju Development Corporation) held a bid last month for the 'Samdasoo Consignment Sales Company Outside Jeju Island,' in which Kwangdong Pharmaceutical ranked first and was selected as the preferred negotiator. Jeju Development Corporation plans to go through the preferred negotiation process with Kwangdong Pharmaceutical and officially announce the final consignment sales company next month.

The contract period will run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029. After that, if Jeju Development Corporation and the consignment sales company reach an agreement, the contract can be extended for one more year.

According to Kwangdong Pharmaceutical's separate financial statements, last year's sales amounted to 974.8 billion won, with about 30% coming from Samdasoo. As the scope of the Samdasoo consignment sales outside Jeju Island will be expanded to include 'large discount stores' starting with this contract, annual sales are expected to increase significantly.
