Orion ENC Acquires Adbiotech to Expand Nuclear Power Plant Design and Manufacturing Business

Orion ENC, a company specializing in nuclear-based waste management and engineering, announced on July 30 that it has acquired Adbiotech and will officially enter the nuclear power plant design and manufacturing business.

Since its establishment in 2012, Orion ENC has accumulated specialized nuclear technology in a variety of fields, including radiation monitoring devices, plasma waste treatment facilities, radioactive waste management machinery, and industrial machinery engineering. This acquisition is a strategic move to diversify its business areas and secure future growth engines by leveraging its capabilities across the entire nuclear power value chain.

Orion ENC is currently engaged in several projects with major institutions such as Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. Based on its production plant in the Ulsan Nuclear Power Plant Decommissioning Industrial Complex, the company has established mass production systems for high value-added equipment such as plasma pyrolysis technology, waste volume reduction facilities, and automated control robotics.

In particular, Orion ENC has registered and filed more than 130 patents in the field of nuclear and radioactive waste management, and is the only small and medium-sized nuclear company in Korea to possess a technology credit rating of TI-2. The company is also recognized for its unique competitiveness in a market dominated by large corporations, as it has secured a nuclear technology value chain that enables it to independently carry out all processes including development, design, manufacturing, commissioning, installation, and maintenance.

An official from Orion ENC stated, "Through the acquisition of Adbiotech, we plan to significantly expand our new business areas focused on design and manufacturing, based on our existing nuclear facility technology," and added, "By utilizing our accumulated engineering expertise and mass production infrastructure, we will strengthen our position in both domestic and international nuclear facility markets."

Meanwhile, on July 25, Adbiotech announced that the management rights would change as Lee Woonjang, CEO of Orion ENC, participated in a third-party paid-in capital increase worth 8.2 billion KRW.
