Unique Summer Night Busking on Boats in Suncheon Attracts Visitors Night water performance held at Green Island by Dongcheon Stream. Provided by Suncheon City

On July 30, Suncheon City in South Jeolla Province announced that it is hosting a unique performance program to cool off the hot summer nights during July and August. The program takes place on the Green Island section above the Dongcheon River.

Every weekend evening, brightly decorated boats gather along the riverside to present distinctive cultural performances. These shows begin around 8:00 p.m. and last for about 20 minutes, featuring emotional busking by local artists.

Stages spanning a variety of genres?including popera, classical music, popular songs, and band music?bring enjoyment to the audience. The unique charm of the performances lies not only in the music. The dynamic movements of the boats and the scenic arrangements themselves provide fascinating sights for spectators.

In particular, boarding the Garden Dream-ho at Suncheonman National Garden allows visitors to enjoy the performances up close. By joining the water parade at 7:30 p.m., one can secure the best vantage point for the show.

Meanwhile, a parade of five boats operates at 15-minute intervals, offering a refreshing breeze and a unique cultural experience against the backdrop of the sunset glow.
