Sejong City Council to Hold Personnel Hearing for Lifelong Education and Policy Research Institute Director on August 12

The Sejong City Council convened its 99th extraordinary session on July 30 to appoint members to the Special Personnel Hearing Committee, processed three agenda items, and then adjourned the session.


Chairperson Lim Chaeseong stated, "We have convened the 99th extraordinary session to appoint special committee members for the personnel hearing regarding the candidate for Director of the Sejong Lifelong Education and Policy Research Institute," adding, "I find it very meaningful that we are holding a personnel hearing for the first time." He continued, "The personnel hearing is a rigorous and important procedure to verify the candidate's qualifications, abilities, morality, and sense of public duty," and expressed hope that "the hearing will serve as a valuable starting point to ensure the accountability and transparency of public institutions and, ultimately, to strengthen the trust of citizens."


The appointed members of the Special Personnel Hearing Committee are Kim Hyeonmi, Kim Younghyeon, Kim Chungsik, Sang Byeongheon, Yeo Mijeon, Lee Sunyeol, and Hong Nayoung from the Administrative Welfare Committee; Kim Hyeonok and Choi Wonseok from the Industrial Construction Committee; and Yoo Inho and Yoon Jiseong from the Education and Safety Committee, totaling 11 members.


The Special Personnel Hearing Committee for the candidate for Director of the Sejong Lifelong Education and Policy Research Institute plans to conduct the personnel verification on August 12. The candidate, Kwon Younggeol, has previously served as a professor at the Department of Design at Seoul National University, president of Kaywon University of Art and Design, and chairperson of the Seoul Design Foundation. He is currently serving as the chairperson of the National Architecture Policy Committee and as a distinguished professor at the College of Design at Dongseo University.


The council plans to submit the personnel hearing report, adopted by the Special Personnel Hearing Committee, to the executive branch by August 18.
