Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is taking the lead in addressing major local issues through communication with its citizens.


The city is launching a transparent communication administration by openly disclosing significant issues such as support for the NC Dinos professional baseball team and improvements to the 'Big Tree' at Daesang Park, while actively collecting diverse opinions from citizens across all walks of life.

The city will hold a 'NC Dinos Team Support Plan Citizen Briefing' at 3:00 p.m. on July 31 at the Gyeongnam MBC Hall. At this briefing, the city will transparently disclose to citizens the requests made by the team to Changwon and the support measures prepared by the city, as well as provide detailed information on future plans.


In particular, the city plans to actively collect opinions from various groups by providing thorough answers to questions from citizens, baseball fans, and the media who attend in person. To date, the city has conducted multifaceted consultations and communications, including gathering opinions from local National Assembly members, reporting to the city council, holding meetings with provincial council members, and coordinating with Gyeongnam Province and the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education. Going forward, the city intends to continue reflecting the diverse voices of citizens in the support plan and pursue policies that enable the local community and professional sports teams to coexist and prosper together.

The direction for improving the 'Big Tree' at Daesang Park, which has recently become a subject of controversy, will also be decided together with citizens. The city will temporarily open the Big Tree from August 4 to August 17 and widely collect citizen suggestions through on-site surveys and online surveys on the city hall website. During the first week (August 4?10), group tours will be held, and during the second week (August 11?17), individual tours will take place, with two sessions each morning and afternoon. For the convenience of visitors, shuttle buses will also be operated.


Based on the collected suggestions, the city plans to immediately implement short-term tasks and address long-term tasks in stages by preparing various measures such as public discussions and design competitions. Through this process, the city aims to transform the Big Tree into an open cultural space centered on citizens.


Going forward, the city will continue to prioritize the happiness of its citizens as its highest value, strengthen transparency and fairness in administration, and create various channels for citizens to directly participate in all areas of municipal governance.
