Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office to Host 'Singing Liberation' Concert for 80th Anniversary of Liberation

Gwangju Veterans Affairs Office to Host 'Singing Liberation' Concert for 80th Anniversary of Liberation Singing for Liberation: Poster Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Liberation Day.

The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on July 30 that it will host a special concert to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, reviving the spirit of the independence movement with a modern sensibility. This performance will serve as a stage connecting the past and future of the Republic of Korea, and will be presented as a convergence performance combining AI technology with various artistic genres.

For the first time, an original piece composed by AI based on the poetry of resistance poets from the Japanese colonial period will be unveiled. The melodies, created by artificial intelligence through analysis of the emotions and structure of the poems, will be brought to life on stage by contemporary artists.

This project features the band group Akdangwangchil, known for singing about Korean tradition and the spirit of resistance, who participated in the album production. The concert will also include performances by the emotional singer-songwriter Roy Kim, the Imihee Feel Dance Company, which bridges tradition and modernity, and Honorbreakers, a group expressing hip-hop and street sensibilities. Each will interpret the meaning of Liberation through their own distinct genres.

The concert, scheduled for August 11, will be available for advance reservation through Ticketlink, and all citizens can attend free of charge.
