The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 30th that it is recruiting companies for the second round of participation in the "Home Appliance Industry Employment Environment Improvement Support Project," which aims to improve the working environment of local home appliance companies and establish a foundation for maintaining youth employment.
This project is part of a regional industry-tailored job creation support initiative backed by Gwangju City and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Its purpose is to prevent industrial accidents at home appliance industry sites and to create a worker-friendly environment where young employees can work with peace of mind, thereby establishing safe and sustainable workplaces.
The support targets small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Gwangju related to the home appliance industry that have newly hired young employees since April of this year. The project consists of the Safety Work-Up Support Project and the Shared Facility Improvement Support Project.
The Safety Work-Up Support Project provides up to 20 million KRW per company to improve the work environment for young employees' safety. The Shared Facility Improvement Support Project offers up to 10 million KRW per company to expand welfare and convenience facilities such as break rooms.
In the first round, which was held from April to May, the Employment Environment Improvement Support Project selected 11 companies for the Safety Work-Up Project and 7 companies for the Shared Facility Improvement Project. In this second round, the plan is to select 3 additional companies for the Safety Work-Up Project and 5 for the Shared Facility Improvement Project. Applications for participation are open until the 14th of next month. Final participating companies will be selected through document screening, on-site inspections, and review by a selection committee.
A representative of the Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated, "This Employment Environment Improvement Support Project is not limited to simply supporting companies. Its purpose is to help local youth settle into stable jobs and to establish a sustainable growth foundation for the local home appliance industry." The representative added, "We hope that tailored support reflecting the voices from the field will provide practical help not only for companies' competitiveness but also for the employment stability of young people."
