Reducing Financial Burden and Promoting Wedding Culture
Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province will officially launch its public wedding venue rental project under the name 'Wedding in Jeonju' starting this month.
According to the city on July 30, the core of this rental project is to open major facilities in the Jeonju area as wedding venues in order to reduce the financial burden of wedding costs for engaged couples and to promote a frugal and reasonable wedding culture.
After conducting a survey on preferences for public wedding venues among unmarried men and women in Jeonju in October last year, and consulting with related departments, the city finalized six facilities that can be opened for this purpose.
Specifically, two venues?JB Cultural Space (indoor cafe, rooftop) and Nosong Square in front of Jeonju City Hall?can be rented and used free of charge. The paid venues include the Korea Traditional Culture Center (performance hall, outdoor yard), Palbok Art Factory (multipurpose room, Ipabnamu Hall, Ipabnamu Square), Deokjin Park, and the World Cup Stadium Family Park. Rental fees for paid venues range from a minimum of 90,000 won to a maximum of 360,000 won.
The city plans to operate the public wedding venues year-round. Depending on the desired location, users can make advance reservations through the Gongyoonuri portal site one to three months in advance. However, users must separately cover additional costs such as tables, chairs, and sound equipment needed for the ceremony. Each public wedding venue can only be used once per day, allowing couples to hold practical and unique weddings with a relaxed schedule.
Going forward, the city plans to continue discovering additional wedding venues that reflect the preferences of the younger generation by collaborating with public and related institutions in the Jeonju area, and to enhance user convenience by developing customized services.
Kim Eunju, Director of Population and Youth Policy, stated, "Through the public wedding venue project, we will reduce the financial burden on engaged couples and revitalize the public wedding venue program so that they can hold meaningful weddings," adding, "We will work to establish a wedding culture that provides practical help to young people."
