Pilot Operation Until Year-End, Official Launch in January Next Year
Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gilseong) will conduct a survey on the 'Ontong Junggu' website until August 6 to decide the name of the integrated public facility shuttle bus, which will begin its pilot operation in September, together with local residents.
The five candidate names for the shuttle bus are as follows: 'Naepyeon Junggu Bus,' which means a bus that is always by your side, providing strength and convenient transportation; 'Junggu Nuri Bus,' which connects the world; 'Junggu Ieum Bus,' which links residents, public facilities, regions, and generations; 'Junggu Dagam Bus,' which conveys a friendly and warm image; and 'Junggu Deundeun Bus,' which emphasizes reliability and availability anytime, anywhere. In addition, the survey will include preferences for the shuttle bus exterior color, which will be reflected in the design.
This integrated shuttle bus operation will combine the previously separate shuttles of Chungmu Sports Center, Hoehyeon Sports Center, Sohn Kee-chung Sports Center, and Jung-gu Youth Center into a single service. The route will also be expanded to various public facilities, including libraries, health centers, community centers, and the Namsan Foot Forest Trail, to enhance convenience for residents.
The pilot route will include areas that were previously difficult to access, such as Dasan Fortress Trail, Cheonggu-dong Village Yard, Yurak General Social Welfare Center, and Jungnim General Social Welfare Center. In particular, the connection to the entrance of the 'Namsan Foot Forest Trail,' which ranks first in resident policy satisfaction in Jung-gu, will be strengthened to ensure that everyone can use it conveniently.
The shuttle bus will operate with a dedicated 25-seater vehicle, and users will be able to check its real-time location and receive a QR boarding pass through a dedicated app. Visitors to public facilities and transportation-vulnerable groups within Jung-gu can use the service free of charge.
The pilot operation will run for four months, from September to December this year. Based on the data collected and residents' feedback during this period, official operation will begin in January next year.
Kim Gilseong, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, "The integrated operation of the public facility shuttle bus will make daily life much more convenient for residents," and added, "I hope all Jung-gu residents will show great interest and participate in choosing the shuttle bus name that everyone will call together."
