Emphasizing Dissemination of Safety Guidelines and Practices
Due to the ongoing heatwave, there are growing concerns about the occurrence of heat-related illnesses, making it essential to pay special attention to ensuring the safety and lives of citizens.
On July 29, Deputy Mayor Kim Hakgyun emphasized during an expanded executive meeting, "We must closely monitor to prevent heat-related illnesses, especially among seniors, people with disabilities, and outdoor workers." The meeting was presided over by Deputy Mayor Kim in place of Mayor Choi Minho, who is currently on an official overseas business trip to Germany and Croatia.
On this day, Deputy Mayor Kim instructed officials to carefully review safety guidelines at facility sites, as the number of visitors to summer water recreation facilities has surged. He also ordered the dissemination of heatwave safety practices, such as frequent hydration and taking breaks during peak daytime hours, especially for outdoor workers who cannot avoid being outside.
He gave a positive assessment of the 23rd Jochiwon Peach Festival, which was held for three days starting July 25, noting that it was successful in terms of entertainment, popularity, and safety, and has further established itself as a leading regional festival. Visitors to the Jochiwon Peach Festival wore pink-themed clothing, creating a bright and lively atmosphere. He also praised the proactive safety measures, such as postponing or canceling some programs in response to the heatwave.
According to statistics from Sejong City, during the recent Jochiwon Peach Festival, a total of 15,270 boxes of peaches were sold out, and the festival generated an economic impact of 9,328,200,000 KRW on the local economy, achieving the highest level of success in its history.
