Some Routes Adjusted for Operation
New Ttareungi Bike Rental Stations Nearby
With approximately two months remaining before the launch of the Hangang Bus service, bus routes will be newly established or adjusted to provide easier access to the piers.
On July 29, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that, starting from August 1, it will operate eight city and village bus routes that have been newly established or adjusted to connect the four Hangang Bus piers?Magok, Mangwon, Apgujeong, and Jamsil?which previously had relatively inconvenient public transportation access.
Among the eight routes, three new routes will serve the Magok and Mangwon piers. Five routes passing through Mangwon, Apgujeong, and Jamsil piers will be partially adjusted. Route 8775, which connects Mangwon Pier and Sangam World Cup Park, will operate as a “customized bus” during weekday commuting hours only. For Magok Pier, the newly established route 6611 will run between Gaehwa Station and the pier. For Mangwon Pier, the newly established route 7716 and the adjusted Mapo16 route will operate between Hapjeong and Seogyo-dong. For Apgujeong and Jamsil piers, two existing city bus routes have been adjusted to provide connections.
To enhance the connectivity between Hangang Bus and public transportation, the city will begin operating the bus routes before the official launch of the Hangang Bus service. After monitoring demand and operating hours for each route, the city plans to adjust bus intervals and schedules in consideration of the Hangang Bus timetable.
Additionally, Seoul will establish Ttareungi bike rental stations within a three-minute walk of the five piers?Magok, Mangwon, Jamsil, Apgujeong, and Ttukseom?to facilitate short-distance travel and transfers to public transportation. For Yeouido and Oksu piers, Ttareungi stations will be added after site preparation and safety facility construction are completed.
The city plans to attach notices indicating “Hangang Bus Pier Stop” to the front of the vehicles, at bus stops, and inside the buses. Operation guide banners will also be installed at nearby Ttareungi stations to promote usage.
Coinciding with the launch of the Hangang Bus, the “Climate Companion Card Hangang Bus Edition” will also be released. This card will be linked to the subway, buses, and Ttareungi. The 30-day pass will cost 67,000 won without Ttareungi and 70,000 won with Ttareungi included, and transfer discounts will apply.
Yeo Jangkwon, Director of Transportation for Seoul, stated, “We have decided to establish bus stops and Ttareungi stations at points close to the piers, taking into comprehensive consideration the surrounding conditions such as access roads and bike paths. We will continue to monitor demand and citizen feedback before and after the launch to ensure there are no inconveniences in using the Hangang Bus, and will make improvements as needed.”
