The Chicken Baeksuk Chicken Breast is priced approximately 89% lower than the average Samgyetang available on the market. According to Korea Price Information, the cost of making Samgyetang at home is 9,000 won per serving, which is a 12% increase compared to the previous year. Last month, the average price of a bowl of Samgyetang in Seoul was 17,654 won, a 4.6% increase from the previous year.

Convenience store ready-to-eat health foods have been gaining popularity each year. CU's summer (June to August) health food sales growth rates compared to the previous year were 30.8% in 2022, 28.5% in 2023, and 25.1% last year.

In addition, ahead of Boknal, CU has launched two differentiated health food home meal replacement (HMR) products: Chicken Leg Samgyetang (5,900 won) and Sujidogani-tang (6,300 won).

Park Hyeri, MD of the HMR Team at BGF Retail, said, "To mark Boknal, we have launched the Deuktem Chicken Baeksuk series so that consumers can enjoy summer health foods at reasonable prices and portions even during this period of high inflation," adding, "CU will continue to introduce a variety of Deuktem series products tailored to seasonal characteristics and consumer needs."
