Indicates Review of Ceasefire Deadline
On July 28 (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he was "very disappointed" in Russian President Vladimir Putin and announced that he would shorten the ceasefire deadline with Ukraine.
After meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a golf course in Turnberry, Scotland, President Trump told reporters, "I am disappointed in President Putin. Very disappointed," adding, "Therefore, we will review this matter, and I will shorten the 50-day deadline I gave him to a shorter period."
On July 14, President Trump warned Russia that if it did not stop the war with Ukraine within 50 days, he would impose high secondary tariffs not only on Russia but also on countries trading with Russia.
However, despite President Trump's warning, Russia has continued missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. President Trump's latest remarks are interpreted as expressing his dissatisfaction with President Putin's response and signaling his intention to increase the level of pressure from the United States.
