According to the Seoul City Bus Transportation Association on July 28, at around 10:30 p.m. on July 11, a man in his 60s lost consciousness and collapsed on the ground at a bus stop in front of Yonsei University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. While nearby students hesitated in shock, one person quickly ran over and began administering first aid. That person was Jung Youngjun, 62, who was driving city bus number 171 (Dowon Transportation) at the time.

Jung noticed a crowd forming around the collapsed person as he was approaching the bus stop. Sensing that something was wrong, he immediately got off the bus and approached the man. Jung checked and found that the man's tongue was rolled back and he was not breathing or conscious. Without a moment's hesitation, Jung secured the airway and began performing CPR.

After about four minutes of CPR, the man exhaled and gradually regained consciousness. Jung then asked the students nearby to safely hand the man over to the 119 emergency responders, and returned to his bus. He apologized to the passengers for the delay, saying, "I'm sorry for making you wait," and resumed his route. It was later reported that the collapsed man was safely transported to the hospital after regaining consciousness.

Jung said, "I think I was able to do it naturally because I receive CPR training every year at the company," and added, "While driving the bus again, I felt relieved, thinking, 'If I do what I learned, I can save a life.'" City bus drivers in Seoul are required to complete four hours of face-to-face training every year, including CPR. The same content is also included in the 12-hour annual online industrial safety and health education course.

Passengers who witnessed him quietly return to driving after saving a life responded warmly. Although the ride was delayed, everyone said, "It's okay," offering words of encouragement. One passenger even handed him snacks upon getting off, saying, "It was truly moving."

A post was also uploaded to the "Let's Compliment" section on the association's website, stating, "Not everyone can do something like this. Although some time has passed, I want to praise him." The writer recalled, "After the driver hurriedly got off, he immediately performed CPR. After several minutes of dedicated CPR, the collapsed person coughed and regained consciousness. The driver looked relieved, returned to the bus, and resumed the route."

Jung expressed his gratitude, saying, "I believe I simply did what I was supposed to do," and added, "There were passengers waiting on the bus at the time, but instead of complaining about the delay, they encouraged me."
