KORAIL Gwangju Headquarters announced on the 28th that it had received a plaque of appreciation from Jangseong County in recognition of its contribution to revitalizing local tourism through the recent operation of local railway travel packages.
The Local Love Railway Travel initiative is a policy established through an agreement between the central government, local governments, and KORAIL, which provides a 50% discount on railway fares to railway tourists visiting areas with declining populations, with the aim of revitalizing the economies of these regions.
KORAIL encouraged visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area and other regions to visit Jangseong County by offering a variety of unique train packages, while the county operated a "Traveler Platform" at Jangseong Station to promote tourism information.
A representative from KORAIL Gwangju Headquarters stated, "We will continue to develop and operate railway travel products that coexist with local communities, striving for mutual growth with the region."
