in preparation for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' public contest

On July 28, Ansan City in Gyeonggi Province announced its plan to attract a 'Marine Healing Zone' to Daebu-dong.

Ansan City stated that it will begin a service to establish a designation and development plan for the zone in preparation for the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries' public contest to designate Marine Healing Zones next year.

A 'Marine Healing Zone' is a space created in areas with excellent marine healing resources to provide health management and leisure services. The zones are designated by the Minister of Oceans and Fisheries according to the Marine Healing Resources Act.

Through this service, the city plans to establish a comprehensive plan that includes: ▲ analysis of marine healing conditions in the area, ▲ development of a basic concept, ▲ review of facility placement and licensing matters, and ▲ proposals for operational strategies.

In particular, through this service, the city aims to envision a new future for the Daebu-dong (planned for Gubongdo) area as a daily healing hub for the metropolitan area. This will be based on complex tourism infrastructure such as marine leisure and fishing village experiences, and will provide urban-style, family-friendly, and worker-customized marine healing services.

The city plans to begin with a kick-off briefing session next month and complete the service by the end of the year. If selected in the subsequent public contest for zone designation, the city will proceed with the designation of a project operator, establishment of a development plan, and approval of an implementation plan, ultimately creating a 'Marine Healing Center.'

Ansan Mayor Lee Minguen said, "We will do our utmost to promote this service to help Ansan grow into the leading marine healing hub city of the metropolitan area."
