In particular, it has been recognized as a practical employment support program for university students interested in the distribution industry, thanks to its solid curriculum that covers everything from practical work to interview preparation.
Marking its 30th anniversary this year, Gwangju Shinsegae recently concluded its '2025 Summer University Student On-Site Internship Program' for local university students with a completion ceremony.
From June 30 to July 25, Gwangju Shinsegae conducted the on-site internship program with the participation of 12 local university students. Now in its fifth year, the program aims to nurture outstanding future talent in the distribution sector and provide hands-on experience by allowing students to apply the theories learned at school to real-world situations.
Over the course of four weeks, the program included job exploration, hands-on experience in sales departments, customer-facing field experiences such as at the gift certificate shop, customer consultation office, and lounge, practical marketing training, participation in social contribution activities, as well as mock interviews and job coaching, all of which received enthusiastic responses from the students.
During the program, students produced content such as videos on the theme of the MZ Generation and directly participated in social contribution activities like packing and delivering the 'Love S-BOX,' experiencing what it is like to be a member of Gwangju Shinsegae.
The mock interview held on the final day included resume reviews and actual interviews with team leaders, providing students with practical experiences that were directly helpful for their future employment, and was met with a highly positive response.
Intern Choi Jinseo (Business Administration, Chonnam National University) said, "During the internship, I was able to closely observe and learn from the corporate culture and the passion and know-how of Gwangju Shinsegae's executives and employees. This experience has given me a vision for the direction in which I should grow in the future and served as a valuable foundation as I begin my professional life."
Lee Donghun, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "I hope this has been a valuable experience for local university students aspiring to work in the distribution industry, helping them feel more familiar with the field. Moving forward, we will continue to promote a variety of programs that contribute to mutual growth with the local community, not only through on-site internships but also as a local corporation."
