This activity was organized by the Women's and Children's Department of Hanam City, with a total of 15 participants, including members of the Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, Hanam Police Station, and local community leaders.
The citizens who participated in the monitoring carried checklists and carefully inspected every corner of the alleyways. They checked the operational status of crime prevention facilities such as logo projectors and safety mirrors, and also verified the installation of CCTV cameras, emergency bells, and security lights. In particular, they gathered feedback from citizens using the route home at the site, making this not just a simple inspection but a meaningful opportunity for citizens to identify safety issues themselves and propose improvements.
Lee Hyunjae, Mayor of Hanam, stated, "This monitoring, in which citizens directly participate to examine local safety, is an important step toward making Hanam a women-friendly city." He added, "Following the joint patrol by citizens, government, and police to prevent sex crimes in the Misa Station area on July 22, this joint inspection of safe routes home for women is another meaningful activity for the local community."
He further added, "We will continue to provide gender-based violence prevention education and campaigns in collaboration with citizens and the police to enhance everyday safety."
Meanwhile, the Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group currently consists of 40 members and is operating its third term. The group has been actively conducting various monitoring activities to ensure a safe women-friendly city, checking local safety issues from the citizens' perspective and proposing improvement ideas.
